§ 102 Corporation Applicability Scope

This law says which companies in California must follow the rules in this part of the law. It also says that if the law changes, it won’t mess up old lawsuits or how existing companies work.

Key Takeaways

  • •This part of the law applies to certain California companies, but not all of them.
  • •If the law changes, old companies don’t have to restart or follow the new rules just because they’re old.
  • •Old lawsuits or money owed by a company don’t go away just because the law gets updated.

Example

A small bakery that started in 1980 is still running today.

Even if the law changes, the bakery doesn’t have to worry about old rules suddenly making it illegal. Also, if the bakery owed someone money before the law changed, that debt doesn’t disappear.
