§ 7306 Altered Bill Of Lading Enforceability

• •Changing a blank space does not cancel the bill of lading.
• •The bill remains valid according to what was originally written.
• •Only changes that have permission can alter the document.

A truck driver signs a bill of lading that has a blank space for the weight of the cargo. Later, someone fills in a weight number without the driver's permission.

Even though the weight was added without permission, the bill of lading is still enforceable with the original terms that were written before the change.
