§ 3111 Place Of Payment Determination

This law tells you where a payment must be made if the document doesn't say a specific place.

Key Takeaways

  • •Pay where the document says, or at the maker's business address if none is stated.
  • •If there is no business address, pay at the maker's home.
  • •When there are multiple business locations, any one can be used for payment.
  • •If the maker has no business or home listed, the law does not specify a payment place.

Example

You have a handwritten note that says 'Pay me $500' but it doesn't say where to send the money.

The law says you can pay the person at the address where they listed their business. If they don't have a business address, you can pay them at their home. If they have more than one business, you can choose any of those locations.
