§ 6828 Lien Effective Date Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •This law applies to liens (a legal claim on property) made on or after January 1, 2014.
  • •If a lien was made before January 1, 2014, the old rules still apply to it.
  • •The law was added in 2013 and started working in 2014.

Example

If someone didn't pay for work done on their house in 2013, and the worker put a lien on the house.

The old rules from before 2014 would be used to decide what happens with that lien, not the new ones.
