§ 6666 Stock Cooperative Ownership Transfer

• •If you sell or transfer your home in a stock cooperative, you also sell or transfer your ownership share in the cooperative.
• •If you sell or transfer everything you own (like in a court sale), your membership in the cooperative is also sold or transferred.
• •This rule applies whether you choose to sell or are forced to sell.

You own an apartment in a building where everyone owns shares in the company that runs the building. You decide to sell your apartment.

When you sell your apartment, you also automatically sell your shares in the company. The new owner gets both the apartment and your shares.
