§ 5740 Lien Effective Date Rules

• •This law applies to liens created on or after January 1, 2003.
• •If a lien was created before January 1, 2003, the old rules apply.
• •The law was added in 2012 but started working in 2014.

You borrowed money in 2002 and didn't pay it back, so the lender put a lien on your house.

Since the lien was created before 2003, the old rules from that time apply, not this new law.
