§ 4158 Managing Agent Definition Exemptions

Key Takeaways

  • •A managing agent is someone who gets paid to control the money or property of a group housing community (like a condo or apartment complex).
  • •Banks or lawyers doing their normal jobs are not considered managing agents under this law.

Example

A person is hired to handle the money and repairs for a condo building.

This person is a managing agent because they are paid to control the condo's assets. But if a bank handles the condo's money as part of its normal banking services, it’s not a managing agent.
