§ 7559 Suspended License Renewal Limits

Key Takeaways

  • •If your license is suspended, you can't do the work it allows, even if you renew it.
  • •Renewing a suspended license doesn't mean you can start working again—you have to wait until it's officially unsuspended.
  • •This rule starts on January 1, 2025.

Example

A person's driver's license is suspended for speeding, but they renew it while it's still suspended.

Even though they renewed their license, they still can't drive until the suspension is over. If they drive anyway, they're breaking the rules.

(b) This section shall become operative on January 1, 2025. (Repealed (in Sec. 17) and added by Stats. 2023, Ch. 571, Sec. 2. (AB 1244) Effective January 1, 2024.
