§ 6745 Interior Construction Exemptions

Key Takeaways

  • •You can hire someone to do work like fixing up a store, adding furniture, or installing equipment without needing special permits.
  • •This includes small changes inside a building, like adding cabinets or new fixtures, as long as it doesn’t make the building unsafe.
  • •The work can include plans or drawings, but only if they’re part of the job (like installing new shelves or equipment).
  • •Big changes that could make the building weak or dangerous are not allowed under this rule.

Example

A coffee shop owner wants to add new counters, shelves, and a fancy espresso machine.

The owner can hire a worker to install these things without extra permits, as long as the changes don’t mess up the building’s safety (like knocking down a supporting wall).
