§ 6050 Subpoena Contempt Penalties

• •If you get a special order (subpoena) to go somewhere and talk or show papers, you have to do it.
• •If you don’t show up, don’t answer questions, or don’t bring the papers you were told to bring, you’re in trouble.
• •This trouble is called 'contempt,' which means you broke the rules and can be punished.

You get a letter saying you must go to court and bring your work papers to help with a case.

If you ignore the letter and don’t go to court or don’t bring the papers, the court can say you’re in contempt and punish you.
