§ 5651 Landscape Architect Licensing Exams

Key Takeaways

  • •You need a license to work as a landscape architect in California.
  • •To get the license, you usually have to pass a written test.
  • •If you already have a license from another U.S. state, Canada, or Puerto Rico, you might not need to take the written test again.
  • •You still might need to take an extra test if California requires it.

Example

A person moves to California from Texas and wants to work as a landscape architect.

If they already have a license in Texas and passed a similar test there, they might not need to take the main written test again. But if California has an extra test, they’ll still need to pass that.
