§ 5116 Licensee Administrative Penalties

Key Takeaways

  • •If you break the rules in your job (like an accountant), the board can make you pay a fine.
  • •The fine amount depends on how bad the mistake was, if it hurt people, and if you can afford it.
  • •You might also get other punishments, like losing your job license, even if you pay the fine.
  • •The money from fines goes into a special fund for accountants.

Example

An accountant makes a big mistake on a client's taxes, causing them to pay extra money.

The board can fine the accountant for this mistake. The fine amount depends on how much trouble the mistake caused and if the accountant can pay it. The accountant might also get other punishments, like not being allowed to work for a while.
