§ 4836 Veterinary Task Supervision Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Only vets or registered vet techs can do certain animal care jobs, and they must be watched over by someone in charge.
  • •Vet assistants can do some jobs too, but they need more watching than vet techs.
  • •The board can make rules about what jobs each person can do and how much watching they need.
  • •The board can also make rules about fines if someone breaks these rules.

Example

If a vet assistant gives a dog a shot without a vet or vet tech watching closely, they could get in trouble.

The law says vet assistants need more watching than vet techs when they do certain jobs. If they don’t follow this, they might get a fine.
