§ 4826 Veterinary Practice Scope

Key Takeaways

  • •Only licensed vets can diagnose, treat, or give medicine to animals.
  • •You can't pretend to be a vet or do vet stuff unless you're licensed.
  • •Vet techs or assistants can help, but only if a licensed vet is watching them.
  • •No one except a licensed vet can put an animal to sleep for surgery.

Example

Your neighbor's dog gets hurt, and you try to give it medicine you have at home.

You can't do this unless you're a licensed vet. Only vets can diagnose or give medicine to animals. If you do it anyway, you're breaking the law.
