§ 3164 Optometric Corporation Licensing Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Only licensed optometrists can be directors, shareholders, or officers in an optometry company.
  • •This rule makes sure that people running the company know about eye care.
  • •There are some exceptions, but usually, you need a license to be in charge.

Example

If you want to start a company that sells glasses and does eye exams, you can't just hire anyone to be the boss.

The boss, the people who own parts of the company, and the people who make big decisions must all be licensed optometrists. This is like saying only doctors can run a hospital.
