§ 2458 Osteopathic Board Fine Distribution

Key Takeaways

  • •If the Osteopathic Medical Board of California starts a case against someone for breaking the rules, 75% of any fines or bail money goes to the board.
  • •The money doesn't go to any city or county funds—it goes straight to the board's own fund.
  • •This rule was updated in 1991.

Example

A doctor breaks a rule set by the Osteopathic Medical Board, like not following proper patient care rules.

If the board takes the doctor to court and the doctor has to pay a fine, 75% of that fine goes to the board’s fund instead of the city or county.
