§ 23008 Definition Of Person

Key Takeaways

  • •The word 'person' doesn't just mean one human—it can also mean a group, a company, or even a business team.
  • •If a law uses 'person,' it can apply to big groups like corporations or small ones like a family business.
  • •This rule helps laws cover everyone, not just single people.

Example

A small family-owned bakery gets fined for not following food safety rules.

Even though the bakery is run by a family, the law treats the whole bakery as one 'person' and can fine them just like they would fine a single person.
