§ 1932 Probationary Dental Hygiene License

Key Takeaways

  • •The dental board can give a temporary license to someone who meets most of the rules to be a dental hygienist, but they might have to do extra things like take more tests or go to counseling.
  • •This temporary license lasts for 3 years. During this time, the person can ask the board to change the rules of their license or give them a full license.
  • •The board can make rules like no drinking alcohol, taking random drug tests, or only working where someone is watching them.
  • •If the person doesn’t follow the rules, they can get in trouble and might lose their license.

Example

A person finishes dental hygienist school but had some past problems with drugs. The board gives them a temporary license but says they have to take random drug tests and go to counseling.

The board is giving them a chance to work, but with extra rules to make sure they stay safe and do a good job. If they follow the rules for 3 years, they can ask for a full license.
