§ 18884 Boxing Ticket Donation Rule

Key Takeaways

  • •Promoters can add extra money to ticket prices for boxing matches to help retired boxers.
  • •This extra money must be shown clearly on the ticket and can't be taken away as tax.
  • •The extra money must be added to all tickets, not just some.
  • •This extra money is on top of what promoters already have to pay to help retired boxers.

Example

You buy a ticket to a big boxing match.

The ticket price might have an extra $2 that says 'For Retired Boxers.' This $2 goes to help old boxers and can't be taken as tax. Every ticket for the match has this $2 extra.
