§ 18752 Amateur Boxing Payment Restrictions

Key Takeaways

  • •Coaches, trainers, or managers of amateur boxers can't get paid extra money unless they have special permission.
  • •They can only get money back for travel costs, like gas or hotel stays, to and from the boxing match.
  • •If someone tries to pay them more without permission, it's against the law and can lead to trouble.

Example

A coach takes an amateur boxer to a match in another city.

The coach can only get paid back for the gas used to drive there and the cost of a hotel room. If the promoter tries to give the coach extra money as a 'thank you,' that's not allowed unless the boxing commission says it's okay.
