§ 1751 Dental Assistant Duty Review

Key Takeaways

  • •The board must check and update the rules for dental assistants and similar jobs every 7 years.
  • •They look at what tasks these workers can do, how much supervision they need, and where they can work.
  • •The rules must stay up-to-date with how dentistry is practiced in the state.

Example

A dental assistant wants to take on a new task, like taking X-rays, but the current rules don’t allow it.

The board reviews the rules every 7 years and might update them to let dental assistants take X-rays if it’s common in dentistry now.
