§ 1302 Clinical Laboratory Improvement Fund

Key Takeaways

  • •There is a special fund called the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Fund where money is kept for labs and blood banks.
  • •All fees paid by labs, blood banks, and lab workers go into this fund.
  • •The money in this fund can only be used for things like checking labs, testing, and giving licenses—nothing else.
  • •Any extra money made from interest stays in the fund too.

Example

A hospital lab pays a fee to get its license.

That fee goes into the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Fund and can only be used to check labs, test workers, or other lab-related stuff—not for anything else like road repairs.
